Measure Pro

Angle finder for iPhone

The Angle tool measures the angle of a corner with your iPhone’s camera. Aim along the first edge and tap +, tap the corner itself, then tap the far end of the second edge. The app shows the corner angle and the length of both edges.

How to use it

  1. Choose Angle in the tool strip.
  2. Aim along the first edge and tap + to start.
  3. Tap the corner point next.
  4. Tap the far end of the second edge. The angle and both lengths appear.

Good for

  • Checking whether a corner is square
  • The angle of a slope, a sloped ceiling or a stair stringer
  • Rough angles before cutting trim. For pitch and slope maths, try the roof pitch calculator

What it can’t do

  • The angle comes from three points the camera estimates, so small errors in each point add up.
  • For a surface angle you can lay the phone on, the bubble level reads tilt from the motion sensors instead.
The Measure App reading a corner angle of 82.9° between two edges of 32.8 cm and 30.3 cm

Angle: questions

How is this different from the level?

Angle uses the camera to measure a corner you can see. The level uses the motion sensors to show how far the phone itself is tilted.

Is Angle free?

Angle comes with Measure Pro. The Measure tool is free.
