The best measuring apps for iPhone in 2026
If you only need a quick measurement, Apple’s Measure app is free and already on your iPhone. Of the other apps here, Measuring Tape + has the highest App Store rating (4.8 from 5,271 ratings) and Tape Measure™ by Level Labs has the most ratings (89,649). We make The Measure App, which isn’t on the App Store yet. Every figure comes from each app’s own listing, checked on 5 November 2026.
How we compared them
We searched the US App Store for “measure”, “measure app”, “tape measure”, “measuring tape” and “AR ruler”, and kept the six measuring apps with the most ratings, plus Apple’s own Measure app. For each, this page shows only what its listing says: its name, developer, subtitle, star rating, number of ratings, price and the iOS version it needs. We haven’t tested every app for this page, and we don’t describe features a listing doesn’t mention.
We make The Measure App, so we aren’t neutral. It’s in the table so you can see how it stacks up, but it isn’t ranked, because it isn’t on the App Store yet.

The Measure App (ours)
Nine tools in one strip: an AR tape measure, area, height, angle, floor plans, a bubble level, a ring sizer, a stud finder that finds screws and nails, and a real-size ruler. The tape measure is free; the other eight need a Measure Pro subscription. It makes no network requests and has no account. iOS 17.0 or later. Not on the App Store yet.
What to look at when you choose
- Price model. Every app here is free to download. All but Apple’s offer in-app purchases, so check what the free version includes on each listing before you rely on it.
- Your iOS version. Each app lists the oldest iOS it supports. Apple’s Measure and EasyMeasure go back furthest, to iOS 12.0.
- Ratings, read with care. A high average from a few thousand ratings and a lower one from tens of thousands aren’t directly comparable. Ratings also change over time.
- Approximate is normal. Apple describes its own camera measurements as approximate (Apple). Plan with any app; check with a tape measure when it matters.

Questions
Is there a free measuring app on iPhone?
Yes. Apple’s Measure app comes with iPhone and is free on the App Store. Every other app on this page is also free to download, and all of them offer in-app purchases.
Which measuring app is the most accurate?
We can’t say from App Store listings, and we haven’t tested the apps against each other for this page. Apple itself says its Measure app’s measurements are approximate (Apple). For anything that has to be exact, use a tape measure.
Do I need an iPhone with LiDAR?
No. All of these apps run on iPhones without it. Apple lists a LiDAR Scanner only on the Pro and Pro Max models from iPhone 12 Pro onwards (Apple).
Why isn’t your app rated?
The Measure App isn’t on the App Store yet, so it has no ratings. We’ll add its rating here once it has one.
